![]() Figuring I can test it and put it back together. So, I pulled the check valve spring out of the Tank pick-up line, but left the Check Ball in place. With the Clear Cover I can keep an eye on my oil lever, like a sight glass. It will pump it out and back into the tank when running, then I'll know I don't have an oil starvation issue. I'd like to get ALL the OIL into the Engine Sump on start up. Looks like another winter project for me. I have a Clear Clutch cover on the bike, so I can see there is Plenty of oil in the sump and it is pumping oil at least that far. Once warmed up and underway, it goes away and the bike runs great. I get the same noises even though the OIL pressure light is OFF as you showed. I even put in NEW Oil pressure regulator and cam chain tensioners. I'm having very similar issue with one of our 04' ADVs. Im going to grab a coffee and roll the katoom to the garage now, may not be able to ride the trails tomorrow With the oil light flickering I am thinking some oil passages might be clogged? When I rev up the noise goes away and oil light goes off too. The noise is similar to when cam chain tensioners are not doing their job but its louder. Im thinking somehow oil does not reach some parts of the engine may be. I rode back, close to home, in traffic I hear the same noise. The noise went away! So I rode where i was planning to go about 30km away and left it on idle again for a while and it was OK. It took about half a litter to reach maximum. So went to a close by BMW dealer and got some oil and topped it off. I thought oil level must be very low, no sign of oil loss under the engine or in the coolant as far as I could see in a gas station. I did an oil change 2000km ago, no problem until the other day in traffic I noticed this noise at idle with oil light flickering with the same rythem of the noise. Sender is a possibility (and cheap) if its a plain sender not a fancy one.04 adventure with 55000km. Changed only the Amsoil EA filter (not oil) and the problems went away immediately. I had a 1994 Camry that did weird things with the oil pressure. Many oil pressure idiot lights come on at around 5 PSI. If anyone has experience with this problem, please let me know what it ended up being.Ī mechanical gauge is the only sure way to tell. But i do know after running the auto rx it could have still plugged up the screen a bit. Obviously I'm a bitogger and use good oils, with more than safe intervals, and my motor is not a known sludger. I don't believe I could have had that much sludge in there. What could it be? Engine just getting tired? Oil pump? Clogged pick up screen? It did first happen on a run of Auto-rx about 1 oil change ago and has been happening since. The fresh oil slowed down how long it took for it to happen, but after it heats up enough it still does it. ![]() Prior to the oil change it would do it faster. Just did an oil change to maxlife 10w 30. Based on the fact that it only does it when the engine is warm leads me to believe it is an actual pressure issue and not a bad sending unit because it can differentiate and will only do it with hot thinner oil and not when the oil is thick prior to proper warm up. Just enough to increase oil pressure enough to turn off the light. ![]() ![]() Also, if I flick the shifter into neutral or park, it will go away because that makes the RPMS go up by 200-300. If the engine is not hot enough it won't do it. Only if the engine has been run for a bit. It only does it at low rpm idle which can only occur when the engine is in drive and I'm at a complete stop. The oil light flickers when the engine is hot and the oil thins a bit. I wanted to run it by the BITOG community for hopefully some better expertise. However the responses I've read are inconclusive. I've done a google search and this sounds like a common issue with lots of people asking about it.
